Experienced

The remote Cloud System Engineer III – AWS DevSecOps & GitLab CI/CD will serve as a senior, hands-on cloud engineer responsible for designing, building, securing, and optimizing CI/CD capabilities within a modern AWS environment in a remote work arrangement.

This role combines deep AWS engineering expertise with advanced Git, GitLab CI/CD, automation, and DevSecOps experience. The successful candidate will architect reusable delivery pipelines, manage GitLab runners and repository workflows, automate cloud deployments, integrate security controls into the software delivery lifecycle, and help engineering teams adopt consistent cloud-native development practices.

The ideal candidate is not simply a CI/CD administrator. You should be comfortable working deeply within AWS, troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and deployment issues, designing secure delivery patterns, and using Git and GitLab as core components of enterprise software engineering.

Success in this role means creating secure, scalable, and reliable delivery platforms that allow engineering teams to build, test, and deploy applications into AWS quickly and consistently while maintaining strong security, governance, and operational standards.

What You Will Do in This Role

The Cloud System Engineer III will provide senior technical leadership for AWS-based DevSecOps and GitLab CI/CD engineering, supporting secure application development and automated cloud deployment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Architect, build, maintain, and optimize enterprise GitLab CI/CD pipelines supporting application build, testing, security validation, and deployment into AWS.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for AWS cloud engineering, CI/CD architecture, GitLab, Git workflows, and automated deployment practices.
  • Design standardized, reusable GitLab pipeline templates, modules, and deployment patterns that can be adopted across multiple applications and engineering teams.
  • Configure, manage, scale, and troubleshoot GitLab runners and supporting infrastructure.
  • Design and maintain Git-based software-development workflows, including repository structure, branching strategies, merge requests, code-review practices, protected branches, and release processes.
  • Integrate GitLab CI/CD with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, and related cloud services.
  • Design secure AWS deployment architectures incorporating IAM, networking, access controls, secrets management, and cloud security best practices.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure and application deployments using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or comparable Infrastructure as Code technologies.
  • Implement automated testing, quality gates, security scanning, vulnerability detection, artifact management, and other DevSecOps controls throughout the CI/CD lifecycle.
  • Support containerized application deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, and/or Amazon EKS.
  • Troubleshoot complex AWS, GitLab, Git, pipeline, runner, infrastructure, networking, IAM, and application deployment issues.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and reliability issues within pipelines and cloud deployment workflows and implement improvements.
  • Partner with developers, cloud engineers, security teams, architects, and other stakeholders to establish scalable engineering and deployment standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams using GitLab, Git, AWS, Infrastructure as Code, and modern DevSecOps practices.
  • Establish technical standards, documentation, operational procedures, and reusable engineering patterns.
  • Evaluate technical requirements, identify risks, and recommend appropriate AWS architecture and deployment approaches.
  • Develop tools and automation that improve developer productivity, deployment reliability, security, and operational consistency.
  • Support continuous improvement of AWS cloud architecture, CI/CD tooling, Git workflows, and software delivery practices.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What You Will Bring

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
